Default Drive VS Overdrive

Does it hurt to drive around town in drive VS Overdrive or D with square?
I have a very loud exhaust and it sounds better when the rpms dont drop below 2000 and floats at 1000 rpm when city driving between 30 and 50 in overdrive.
It is 2002 ss auto Camaro.
Is this doing damage to trans or is it ok
I dont shift down or up like a stick.
thanks for input
Kerley

If anything it will be better on the trans. It wont constantly be shifting from OD to D. Less shifting is always better
