Default What size stall for bolt ons, future mods? Help

I'm going to get a Yank ss stall very soon. I have all the bolt ons. Mod plan for next summer is: cam, 243's and spray. We'll see how money looks at the time. I'm looking at the 4000 or 4400 stall. What do you guys think? The car is a weekend toy only. I know I'll need tires.lol

I would look around the 4000 area. Keep in mind spray can have a big impact on the torque converter to use.

Rough idea of cam size or shot size?

When I have the extra cash, the cam will be a tsp tsunami with a 150 shot. That should be fun. Woot!

You do generally want to pick a torque converter based on where your peak torque will be made.

With that cam a 4,000 stall would likely be fine. However, many recommend a lower stall speed when spraying nitrous. Also, depending on how set you are on that 150 shot you may want to think about an anti-balooning plate. 150 will likely be ok, but if you think you may go higher look into one.

Any idea or rear gear or tire size?

I think you will be happy with a 4,000. Could always buy from a vendor that will restall once for free with the purchase of a new converter just in case.

I'm not sure if I'll spray the car now. looks like a bit of money. Work is slow these days. I know I'll head/cam the car some day. Was thinking maybe next summer or over the winter.

Either a SS3600 or SS4000 will work great w/ just the bolt-on's u can run high 11's and 150 shot in the high 10's w/out heads & cam.

That's good to hear! I know I'll need good tires. My car goes crazy sideways now going into 2nd.

I just bought the SS3600 stall for my car. I have a similar setup, with full bolt-ons and 150 shot. I haven't installed the stall yet but I was debating btn the 3600 and 4000 as well. I DD my car so I picked the 3600 or I would have chose the 4000.

3600 since it will end up stalling higher with heads/cam. I've ridden in two cars with SS4000's. Both feel amazing out of the hole then lay down hard on the top end. My friend's car with an MS3 and 243's and SS4000 now stalls to about 4400-4500 after the heads/cam swap.

If you are going to spray then have your converter designed around that as a 4000 converter for na will be different than a 4000 converter for the jug!!!!
