Default TH350, downshift 2-1

I have a manual valve TH350, with a 4200stall.. my issues is that when I take it into 2nd, and then want to bring it back down to 1st, its hit or miss. Ofcourse, I am not doing this at any major speed, I would say 5mph, leaving the water box, and when I come to a stop sign.. Shifter, and cable, and lever all move just fine, its selecting the gear correctly, just not making the shift internally?

just wondering if anyone knew what might cause it?

My manual valve body is set so when you put it in a lower gear rolling, it won't pick up till your in higher rpm's. So if i was at 30 in 2nd gear, and i put it in 1st, it would just rev up until i was at like 5k and then it would take off. I don't know if maybe yours is like this, maybe just not working corectly.

mine, seems to kinda do the same thing. I will select 1st rev it up, and it drops gear, still not 100% of the time, but it does it often.. kinda wierd.. I will be building it up alittle more this winter, so as long as it last a few more months I am okay with it.. just lookin for advice towards what the cause might be...

thanks

You need to block the low control valve in the valve body.

is there any harm that come from it not being blocked, rather than it not shifting down on command. I can limp the next few months, and just use low gear to heat the tires, and stage without having to shift..
