What a lot of people dont think about when it comes to the stock tranny is the rpms you will be spinning it too. A 4l60e will take a lot more power if you are only spinning it to 6k as opposed to 6500.

I think a lot of transmissions fail because they are told to,
pretty much. Because the PCM controls line, and does it
based on stock, fuel-economy-driven assumptions which
are "barely enough to hold" behind a torque-managed,
stock motor. Then yahoos try to "lean it out" with ghetto
mods, make it think it's getting less air hence torque, and
delete TM against a degraded line pressure and maybe a
higher shaft torque through a converter. Trans don't know
nuthin' and nobody's got its back. So your frictions slip
sustained under high power, and they aren't meant to and
there's no way to get all that heat out before you varnish
up the frictions. All done.

I see people with not that much power eating transmission
after transmission, even built. There's other factors besides
hardware if you're on your third trans with <400HP while
others beat the hell out of just one and are fine for years.

Stock trans with 3200vig with no aftermarket trans cooler, still rocking after 10 years of drag passes. 1.50 60ft and 11.36 to 11.55 runs. Trans Fluid is still cherry red. I did destroy 2 stock 10 bolts, stock drive shaft and lost #7 piston but nothing stopped my 4l60.
