hitting rev limiter goin to 3rd and 4th??

Default hitting rev limiter goin to 3rd and 4th??

wondering if cheap tranny fluid could cause it to hit the rev limiter a few times between shifts into 3rd and 4th, just put a cammed 6.0 in it. hopin maybe no serious trouble awaits, i made 26 1/8th mile passes on it and it still operates perfectly. any help would be awesome.

probably slipping and needs internal repair.


i lost 3 and 4th on my auto. it was shot.

Either a tune is needed with the new combo or your trans might be starting to have an issue. With added power your shift parameters might be a bit off. Vince

i hope not, it only does it at WOT, im gonna see about having my shift kit messed with by the guy that did all my tuning, its set to hit hard into second but whoever did the shift kit originally didnt bother with 3rd or 4th. even if im at redline rpm but i kinda let off it doesnt do it. hope its nothing major but if so i figured i would need a much stronger tranny, just not quite in the budget yet lol. thanks

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and the guys on here told me that 3rd and 4th gear were about to go out on me....and I'll be damned if it didn't happen 2 weeks later. Apparently, it's a very common problem with these 4L60E's. Hopefully this isn't your problem, but it sure sounds familiar. Mine wouldn't shift to 3rd at WOT until I let off the gas a little.

I have the same problem with mine it started after the stall was put in and was only in first gear then third and then started to slip second and third it is at shop now getting a rebuild with heavey duty stuff

With that kind of power and a cam, you are probably loosing your 3-4 clutch. It will probably be going sooner rather than later also. What does your trans fluid look like? Does it look/smell burned? If so, your clutch pack is toast and it will need to be rebuilt.

bands & clutches are gone..Mine would shift great normally, WOT wouldn't shift in any gear

dang that sucks, hopefully i still have some life in it cuz it will shift at WOT but only after 4 or 5 hits on the limiter, this sucks lol, but thanks, guess its time to start looking for a tranny now.

if it is hitting rev limiter and goes in gear normal driving it will start to slip in normal driving soon thats what mine did just got back from shop all clutches and band were burnt

Not the best idea to go into 4th at WOT. You could understand why the trans wouldn't be built to withstand this.

in a race that requires you to go 140 plus you have to go WOT into 4th, but no more racing till i get a built tranny, so i dont have to worry about it any more.

yea just redo thee tranny add a stall if you dont have one an just hold on an have fun hope every thing works out

Or before just assuming that your transmission is shot, play with the shift points a little bit. After I put a stall in my car it would hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift 3 times before going into gear. Adjusted the shift points and it shifts fine now.
