05 a4 gto 1st to 2nd hard shifting question....
I have a 05 a4 gto and it has the 4l65e tranny I believe anyways sometimes depends on the throttle positioning and speed and or RPM, but sometimes when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it has a hard/Jolt shift feel to it, just wanted to know if this is pretty much normal or what?
Also I might be causing this myself because Im so focus on how its shifting Im messing up the trannys rhythm hehe but when its in the middle of shifting from 1st to 2nd I;ll let of the gas or something and it takes a little longer to finally shift to 2nd, but if I just drive normal without messing with the gas pedal it shifts quick like normal. Thanks

The first step should be to scan for codes; not all codes turn on the MIL light.
Some codes will cause the PCM to increase/max the transmission line pressure to reduce slippage. The high line pressure also creates harsh 1-2 shifts and firmer 2-3 shifts.
The second step would be to put a pressure gauge on the trans to see what is going on. As a first step, some mechanics simply replace the EPC (pressure control solenoid) as there appears to have been a bad batch of them around 2005. A sticking EPC can cause harsh shifts or slipping shifts.
If the pressures and EPC are OK, and it is only the 1-2 shift, it is easy to remove the 1-2 shift accumulator housing. The spring or (plastic) piston in it often break and result in a harsh 1-2 shift.

Anyone running a SD tune? MAF issues or a computer who doesn't see a properly failed MAF for a SD tune can cause higher line pressure and hard shifting. I have seen it intermittent as well, not necessarily all the time.
