After adding my headers and catback, I had Frost do the tune. His mail order tuned dramitcially improves the shifting on automatics. I have no problem catching second now for a chirp or a decent spin when it hits second. It depends on how hard I am into it.

Frost's tune definately made my cara lot more fun to drive.

All you have to do is drop the pan, take the 2nd accumulator off which is held on by 3 bolts, block the piston from moving. Use nuts, washers, block the feed hole, etc.

I'm not saying I recommend this, but it's how B&M does it in their kits, it'll give annoying chirping shifts into 2nd at almost all throttle positions. And if you're on a tight budget you can do it for free to under $1.

If it shifts firm, that is all you need, as more is hard on the geartrain. It should lay rubber based on how much torque/horsepower you have, not how hard you make the transmission shift. You can make a 4 cylinder shift hard enough to lay rubber, but it is very hard on the drive train.

I use HP tuners and knocked the timing and duration of the shifts down. It only chirps the tires based on how hard i am into it and sometimes spins the tires through 2nd and 3rd.

From what I know/understand it does depend on what the line pressure is set to on the tune. Also a shift kit does help make the tires spin when shifting. Also if you have a good tire that will sometimes eliminate the spin when it shifts.

I have my line pressure increased on my trans am and i sometime get the tires to spin, but also i have about 40% or less of tread left lol.

It may have amusement value, but losing traction helps
nothing including acceleration.

If you have 2.73 gears you're probably not gonna until
you up the rear wheel torque (real torque, not dyno BS
"corrected torque"). Like with a converter. With 3.23s
it's no prob to chirp and with a converter & 3.42s it's
all just a smear up to middle of 2nd. Did it help my 60'
or 1/4? Not one bit. Sliding friction is what it is, no
matter how much motor you've got.
