Default Transmission took a dump

Heres the deal I have a 2000 Trans am with 180,000 miles on it and i know my trans is going to have to be replaced or rebuilt. Because for the most i

have no 3rd or fourth gear. What is the best way to go about this should I buy a replacement from FLT or Perfomabuilt with a high stall for nitrous. Or

just go to a local shop and have them rebuild it with upgraded internals like kevlar clutch packs and better belts. If i go the first route I would be doing it

in the driveway on my back. or taking it to a shop getting it done cheaper but may not be the same quality work. Im not on a real tight budget but im not made of money either so I

want to make the smart buy here. Perfomabuilt I think has the better warranty but higher cost any body have any advice on how they went with their trans. thanks alot

i had almost the same problem on my 1999 trans am, 3rd and 4th didnt work, went into neutral instead, after talking with a few sponsers i decided just to have rebuilt buy a local guy here in MO, comes with 2 year warrenty and 900$ cheaper, so i would look around, weigh the warrenties and if you have to put it in or not,

Yeah I def have to do some shopping around but i have just heard so many bad stories about shops messing up trans rebuilds with aftermarket performance parts or voiding warranties for racing or whatever reason. I just want peace of mind without breaking the bank.

Any sponsors want set me up with a qoute? I wanna drive again

We are currently running a special here. https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...g-special.html

We would need to know some more details on your vehicle to make sure to build you the correct unit for your application. Feel free to give us a call. Vince

I almost bought a "name brand" transmission, but after dozens of the local's kind words about Joe Average's sweat shop, i took it there. 15k miles later it still kicks like a mule drinking battery acid.

haha Im still going to talk to some local shops around me tommorow but I know all the sponsors that rebuild these transmissions know them in and out and what they are and

arent capable of. But as far as details on the car Its a Street strip car when the trans is replaced I will be spraying at the track. I really love the idea of a high stall in a car. No

suspension work done oriented for dreag racing just lowered with thicker sway bars. The rear is the stock 10 bolt with 2:73 gears that I intend to replace/blow up. its puttin

out 335hp 350tq N/a no idea with nitrous tuned by ttp. Thats about it I think

Mine did the exact same thing after my Stall install. I lost 3-4 with no warning. I wound up going to a local shop also because I was on a pretty limited budget. I paid 1250 for a Heavy Duty component rebuild using Alto red eagle clutches, corvette servos, etc. I also got a 1 year warranty.
