Default Transmission Temp. sensor?

Well, it looks like im going to put a TCI SS3500/Cooler/Shift kit/3:73's in all within the next month or so. I found all i need but the tranny Temp. sensor. Where can i find one? One more question.. The TC is going to be used with around 2-3k miles on it, can TC's go bad? Was just wondering if i should go new with the TC or not? Thanks

torque converters CAN break but its very rare....usually something in the tranny will give way before a converter will break.....just make sure you have it blown out before you put it in the car...if theres any metal floating around in there from previous use, you have to get it out.

Im sure too.. will ask around when i get it.. Also, you think that upgrading from stock gears to 3:73's will help the "loose" part as everyone calls it. Just trying to figure out if i should spend an extra 200 bucks for upgradeing the rear end or not.

yes the 3.73s will tighten the converter and improve around town gas mileage because the car will get up and move with less effort. just be prepared to put a decent tire on...a 3500 stall and 373s are going to make for either really hard launches or 300 feet of rubber marks.

LOL...
Then i guess ill get the gears too.. Right now man i only have 255 35 17 on the rear.. It gets sideways the way it is now. Guess i will have to be carefull till i can get new rims and tires 275 front and 315 rear.. The car when i bought had some nice rims but they are only 17+8's.. cant fit a 315 on
that.

I would be careful of your converter choice. I have 3.73's and decided finally on a Y3000, 2.0 STR. I have an upgraded full BMR suspension, and STILL have trouble time to time in hooking up.

A 3500 stall+a higher STR, coupled with 3.73's will give you traction problems, and to be on the safe side I would replace the flexplate as long as you are there with a TCI SF29 unit. (it is only 3 more bolts to remove).

What will replacing the flex plate do? Not to sure what that is or does? Can you shed some light on that?

Please reference this link, it can explain it FAR better than I can:
