What other mods do you have? What kind of power are you making? How is the current trans? Any burnt smell from dipstick or anything? Does it feel like its slipping under WOT?

Personally with the miles, if that is the original trans, I would probably hold off on installing the converter. I have seen in many cases where shortly after installing a performance converter the trans goes down. If you can do the trans then now would be a good time. Not saying that your current trans would not be fine but that is the chance you take either way. Vince

I put a mild Yank converter in my 160k+ mile 4L60E and it took a dump soon afterwards. It's hard to say if the failure was hastned by the looser converter or if it was just due to sheer mileage. As long as you're going to have the trans worked on anyway then go ahead and get a decent performance rebuild done.

No way I would do a converter on a 60 with that many miles. Your gonna introduce more heat, more stress, hold off..

Rebuild or get a "built" one. I'm putting money aside right now just for a new "built" trans. ...

But I'm planning on keeping my old core so I can send that one in too for the same build work. Doesn't hurt to maybe have a spare lying around.
