Tranny will not shift out of park, no tension when moving selector
Car drove fine, no noises or anything when parked. Go out to leave, put car in reverse, lights come on, no movement. Same thing for all gears. Car just revs like its in park. The fluid level is good and smells normal. There is no tension in the selector when moving from park to any of the other gears, which makes me think the linkage has something wrong.
I have the console apart, and everything appears to be connected and functional. Under the car when the selector is moved, nothing appears to happen to actually take the trans out of park.
Should I assume a bad linkage cable?

Definitely sounds like the linkage. I would put the car on stands, have someone sit inside and move the shifter while your under the car with it turned off. Follow the linkage from the tranny back up to the shifter, something has came loose somewhere. Probably a simple fix if everything was fine when you parked it and no previous tranny issues.
