My 4l60e Trans is sluggish from start
reverse made a pop couple days ago and now only loads engine and rolls forward in reverse
goes forward in neutral
also either 1-2 gear slip or 2nd isnt there
firebird goes 2500 rpm at highway speed (no 4th gear?)
rpm's jump in turns like it's not in gear

 

Sounds like the foward clutches are welded together.It needs to come out for a rebuild.

 

I would concur internal failure you need to replace or rebuild the trans

 

how bad would it be to drive it the way it is? what would be the longevity if i did

 

The more you drive it like that, the more damage you're doing to it and the more $$$ it will cost to fix. Better to re-build now in my opinion.

 

found a used one near my area http://madison.craigslist.org/pts/2148914760.html probably cheaper to buy this one and have it installed at transmission shop?
