I'm looking to replace my 4l60 with an 80.. but its behind an ls1.. I do know you will need to shorten your driveshaft, swap the front yolk for a th400 style one, custom crossmember (I think bowtie overdrives sells one) bellhousing will bolt up. you will need a 4l80 flexplate unless you use a custom converter (6 mounting bolts instead of 3) and a stand alone transmission controller.

It'll bolt right up like a th400 as long as you have a large bolt pattern flexplate. If the flexplate has 3 holes and the converter has 6, then bolt it up with three bolts.

I'm putting a 6.0 LQ9 in a 91' RS Camaro, I just picked up a 4l80E for it, Hawks third gen makes an LSX swap crossmember for the 4L60E, will it work for a 4L80E or is it a different size/length, also, will I need a custom drive shaft. Hawks was not sure because he said "it should work" I want to know if it "WILL" work!!!
