Exploding 4l60
I recently had a 1995 4l60 rebuilt w/ some upgrades cosisting of a sun shell and a better sprag. I was on the tollway and on the 17th mile of the new trans it exploded, broke the bellhousing, converter, driveshaft, torque arm, crossmember, exhaust, output shaft, front sleave that goes into converter and put a hole in the floor!
This trans went back in with the same driveshaft as it had before, same converter, same everthing and it was fine before the rebuild.
The pump blew out of front of trans and started the carnage, anybody have any idea why this trans came apart?

end play was too tight most of the time with the beast you will have to change the washer on the back of the drum to a thinner washer to correct endplay which is nominal at about .012. if its too tight when the trans grows from heat it will blow the front pump right out of the case
