Default 4l60e no shift after 2nd

I have an 04 gmc sierra 4x4, tranny went out, bought what is supposed to be a stronger rebuild, not so sure now. Installed it im almost sure ive installed everything correctly even though im no pro. Put the tranny in filled with fluid the whole nine yards, take it for a drive around the block to find that it wont shift after 2nd gear manually or automatically, when it wants to shift into from 2 to 3 its like it goes into nuetral just revs (no go). Fluids full, all elect plugs are plugged in i checked fuses right now im going to check my shift linkage i dno what else it could be. What could i have missed? ANY help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Any codes in the computer? Sounds like you might have an internal issue from what you are saying. Might want to contact your builder to see what his thoughts are. Vince

No codes, I live in alaska, theres not many many options up here, it was cheaper to buy this out of state and have it shipped up here then taking my original to get rebuilt. I bought it out of florida, tried callin this guy and sure as hell no answer, i wanna say i got ripped, its supposably warenteed for a year, just wanted to see if i maybe missed anything before i spend twice the money i already have.

Who is the builder? To be honest it sounds like an internal leak. In order to have first gear you must have both shift solenoids working. In second gear the "A" solenoid shuts off and then in third gear the "B" solenoid shuts off. Being that you have a neutral condition the 3rd clutch circuit must have a huge leak if I had to guess. Any check engine lights or anything? Does your speedo and dash lights for the current gear work correctly?

Give him a chance to make it right. If he does not help you out here then you know what the next step is. It sucks to have to leave negative feedback or dispute the charges but if you can not contact him you have no other option. I hope this works out for you and if you need any advise let me know. Vince

The same thing just happened to my '01 Trans Am...but with the factory untouched trans.

The car does go into third and forth on a lift when the tires are off the ground. On the road the car goes from 2nd to what was suppose to be 3rd. Feels like the car tries to hook third but goes into "Neutral". My only guess is that the clutches are worn out enough that they can't hold up under load.

Either way I just ordered my Yank stall to be sent to FLT and a Level 4 will be ordered tomorrow.
