I wouldn't recommend locking a Yank single disk on the dyno. I have seen that end the life of quite a few transmissions. That higher number on the dyno isn't worth smoking your trans and converter IMO.

I would agree and go further I would not really suggest locking at wot on the dyno period, Has it been done yes many times with success but there is also always a reasonable possibility of trans and or converter failure no matter what converter or trans you have.

Dyno numbers are what they are. As far as I'm concerned et is what counts. If you have an efficient converter you do not need to lock it. Yank makes some great products and I would not hesitate to install one in my own car in a heart beat! I guess what I'm saying is are you after a dyno number or a car that runs fast? To many people get tied up in dyno numbers however they do not realize that the dyno is a tuning tool. Take it for what its worth. Vince

If you decided to lock the converter, you would need to manually hold 3rd gear only, and manually command lock up before the pull goes WOT (as in with HPTuners). Most will tell you the clutch will hold it. I personally would not risk my converter and tranny for a few more hp on my dyno run though.

I have ran into this lockup issue a few times over the last year and had never heard of it 4 or 5 years ago. I remember, maybe it was Ellwein locked his at 5000 rpm before going through the traps. All I know is I've had my Yank SS 3600 for 6 years now and my tune is set to lockup at the top of second gear. I have well over a hundred maybe 2 of wot lockups in the 30k miles, some 50 or so with DR's at the strip running 12.8x @ 3900 lbs. At only 309 rwhp I must be low enough not to hurt it or just lucky.
