I see, well you can save yourself some pennies and go the Yank Stealth route. Me personally, I'd prolly roll the SS3600, but everyone is different.

I have the other T/A in my sig for racing so since Im not racing it would something like this be fine - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4L60E...Q5fAccessories
I honestly cant pay over $500 for a converter but I need to get the surging fixed. I might just have to buy one used off here but $300 is about as much as I can spend. I read the torrington bearings that some of these places use can come apart are those the ones to stay away from? Anyone heard of that?

I wont comment on Revmax. I have said my piece too many times before. Not saying there isnt a more budget friendly converter out there for you but that $200 price tag is just spooky to me. Jesus, how much (work/parts) can they be doing while still turning a profit at those prices?

Thanks for helping.
I dont know about revmax but the guts are shown on the page. Some of you torque converter gurus probably know what your looking at. I'll search revmax but I'll probably end up buying used from here. Feel free to send me a PM with what you got. 2500-2800 is what Im looking for for a 4L60.
Will 700R4 and 4L60E converters fit because I have the 93 4L60? Is the spline 30 count?

Call me at the shop. I may have a reasonably priced answer for you. A used Vigilante from an LT1 car if it's not too much stall for you.

I don't know anything about the Revmax converters. I've never used them and AFAIK none of my customers have.
I would actually agree that a $200 price tag seems pretty low. I do know the cores are cheap and the kits to convert the converter aren't very expensive but the equipment to build them isn't cheap.

Maybe they are working on the principle of volume to make their profit, and this is how some companies get their name on the market. In 5 years they may be one of the most respected names in the industry, or they may be out of business.

There is a point of you get what you pay for. There is also some brand loyalty (usually for good reason).

However the claims some make about a converter with a ring on the front instead of a billet cover being junk are untrue.

There is a place for a simple inexpensive converter, and your car may be a good candidate.

If you are doing WOT lockups, you obviously want a big lockup clutch. If not, the small clutch can work well. If the car is tuned properly, and is using the lockup only at light throttle it is more than adequate. There isn't very much HP or load involved in a car that is already at cruising speed maintaining that speed. This is where the converter is intended on being locked and where it gives you the advantage of better MPG.

How ironic, a buddy is selling an LT1 Vigilante billet converter. However, there are two things about it. A. it was bought from the moderator of the LT1 section and he said it needed to be sent in bc the clutch wasn't working (stall speed set to the new owner's specs obviously) but we never installed it to verify anything and B. he would sell it cheap enough to make this a viable option to you. He just bought an 07 5.3 to replace the LT1 so the converter needs to go as it wont work. Im unaware if Vig could change it to and LS style converter so its probably no use to our project. PM me if you want his info.

Actually Jake, my stock torque converter hasnt locked up since Ive had the car (7 years)
I think its the TCC soleniod but it never really bothered me because I never take this car on the freeway. I never really notice. I might fix it, I might not. I would definitely baby it while its locked though. I do have a good tranny cooler alraedy.

The one sitting here is a Vig that IIRC started life as a 3200 but was restalled to a 3600.
I'll sell it as is for$ 250 or I can have my converter guy cut it open, ck it out, and then sell it for$ 400.

It's a single disc vig so it has the billet cover and bigger clutch. Pretty decent converter that we don't need. We deal almost exclusively with 4L80s so it'll sit here forever.
