NEW FLT level 6 trans/Yank SS3600 Installed
Cliff Notes: OMG, this thing is AWESOME!!!
Long story:
So, Ive been having transmission issues for a long time. A Fuddle converter took out my stock trans, so I bought a trans from another company that claimed "700HP" from their 4L60e. I went through 4 of them, making 350 or so to the wheels. All were junk and NOTHING like what advertised (or even what was inside).
Next company to try and build it was a local shop. This one seemed good, but the 402 went in and shortly after broke the input drum collar. They rebuilt it, and all was well... until I got to Italy and the car was bouncing off the limiter on the 2-3 shift. The motor was dynoed before leaving the states on a mustang dyno making a little over 470/470 on an unlocked converter.
I tried a couple times to do some work on it, but of course failed. The valve body stuff was easy, but I must have overlooked something somewhere. I still have my other trans any may try rebuilding it since I dont need it.
Now to the good stuff. I bought this new trans when there was a sale at FLT. I went with the level 6 because of Andy's recommendation. It has the top of the line as far as internals, and also has the billet output shaft. I ordered it back in september, and it shipped about 2 weeks after that. The problem was I had a friend put it on a boat for me for free, so it took 3 more months to get to me (but avoid Italian customs). I wish i hadn't done that though. I had the trans in my hands last friday and had it about 90% installed in about 2 and a half hours. I finished it up saturday morning and finally got to fire it up (with a new Kooks catback too). Right from the start it drove GREAT! This thing is way better than ANY of the other transmissions I had previously.
I also threw in a new Yank SS3600 along with this trans. I used to have a Yank PT3800, but the pump broke on the last trans, and broke the hub on the converter.
All in all this thing ROCKS!! Im running a modified trans tune from "coolaid" on here and it shifts at good speeds and you know when the converter hits lock-up. The upshifts are quick and smooth, they do not "bang" into gear and snap your neck. This is my DD, and the drive is great for being a 402 with a 3600 stall and a built trans. I went through the 150 break-in miles for the converter very quickly, and tested it out the best way possible...WOT from 2-3 and it went without a hitch. The kick-downs are quick and firm, but thats fine since I am usually getting into the power.
Customer service has been great too. Andy has helped me out with all of my 1 Million questions to make sure I had everything correct for the install.
Bottom-line: I wish I had bought from them in the first place and not wasted my money elsewhere!!

honestly, I cannot give a good comparison. i started having trans issues a little bit after the converter was broken in (not related to the converter though, the 3-4 clutch pack slipping and me trying to fix it effed it up more) and never really tested it out fully.

i've got a wicked 2000 ws6 that is pushing around 420-450 hp.the original trans was great till 3rd gear went south.i tried to have mine rebuilt locally with no success at all.actually now im out $875.anyway,i am seriously debating getting an flt trans.i just would hate to install it myself and just my luck i get the 1 in a million that doesnt work right.im sure a reputabe company like FLT will warranty something like that, but still,i promised myself that the next tranny that gets installed will shift at wot with no issues whatsoever.so im trying to be very careful on which transmission i buy.so far,im down to two companies.
