4L60e use the same harness as T56?
4L60e use the same harness as T56? Just wondering if the 4L60e and T56 harness are the same, or at least similar. I purchased a wrecked 00' Z28 unfortunately it was auto (wanted 6-spd) but got a great deal on it. Any idea if I can just swap tranny's and go?
I'm a little confused as to what you are asking. Are you taking the auto tranny from the wrecked car to use in your car, which used to be a six speed? Or, are you fixing the wrecked car and wanting to put a six speed in it, using the original A4 wiring harness?
If you are trying to use a M6 trans with an A4 harness, it is doable, but will require some cutting and splicing for things to work. I don't know about the other way around, but I imagine it would be a similar scenario. I entertained the idea of doing a M6 swap into my A4 car, so I was reading up a little about the wiring harness differences.

The donor car has LS1 w/ 4L60e, I'm wanting to go LS1 w/ T56, just wondering if I can use the auto tranny wiring to wire up the manual transmission or if the wiring is significantly different
Ok, gotcha. I will not pretend to be the expert on this, but I do know you can use the A4 wiring harness--it will just require some electrical knowledge on your part to cut and splice the correct wires. No problem. Also, I might add that you can regularly find used M6 harnesses in the Parts Classified section of the forum for ~$250, sometimes lower. Sure beats buying a new one and paying over 3x that much. It might be worth the hassle to get a used one where everything just plugs in--depends on what you want to do. And, you can always sell your A4 harness when you are done with it to recoup some of the cash, too.

To convert the A4 harness to M6 you only need to add two pins to the PCM plug. One for the reverse solenoid and one for the cruise control inhibit. I can't imagine spending $250 for that. And you don't even need to be sloppy about it, you can use two pins/wires from the A4 so they are alreay in the loom.
For the interior harness you need to add the neutral safety wire, a ground. The reverse light wiring needs to be run from where it was on the shifter down to the plug on the M6. The VSS needs to be lengthened and with a new plug, plugged into the M6 VSS.
When you rewrite the PCM from A4 to M6 some pins do different things. So if something doesn't work during the installation it will when you rewrite the PCM.
