The tranny builder should be the one providing the parts list. If he doesnt know what parts are best for that trans, maybe you should find another builder.

^^^^ This. You are getting ready to be dissapointed if you let this guy build your tranny. Sounds like he knows how to assemble one and that's it. A real builder that knows what it takes to make one live will know all the parts needed and how to set it up correctly. Save yourself alot of grief and use one of the vendors on here like RPM, FLT, Circle D, Performabuilt, FTI, Rossler, etc.

Reread what we said. You aren't grasping the concept. The conversation between you and your tranny builder should go like this:

You: I'm making XXX hp and shifting at XXXX rpm. I'm going to the track X times a year. I drive like a X. How much is it gonna cost to build me a 60 that lasts?

Builder: $XXXX

You: Cool, do it.
-------------------------------
Try it like this and get burned:

You: I brought you some parts I read on the internet were good. I also brought you some other **** that the guy at the parts house up-sold me by saying they were super tough. Can you put this in my tranny so I can call it built?

Builder: I know how to take apart a 60 and then put it back together.

You: Perfect.
-------------------------

If I give you a welder, I'm confident you or anyone can stick 2 pieces of metal together. What makes you a successful welder is when people risk their money and their life based on the safety/strength of YOUR weld. See the difference?

Here is some advice...

1) You get what you pay for
2) Compare rebuild kit prices (the more sh*t the better)
3) A trans built by the vendors selling for over $2500 was not built using a kit that costs under $400.
4) Compare the parts EVERY vendor offers in their trans, there will be a trend (ie corvette servo, upgraded clutch pack components, etc)
5) Do you really trust this guy?
6) I'll give you a break. Maybe he knows his sh*t, and he's going based on your budget/input. Maybe you said "rebuild" instead "built-bullet-proof"
7) When in doubt, LEARN and maybe you can do it yourself.
