Default HP loss with TCI SSF

a couple weeks ago I put down 315 hp and 326 ft tq, I installed my tci 3500 today and It will definatly take some getting use to, but my question is, the guy that helped me put it in said I could lose up to 50 hp with this convertor. I figured maybe 5-10, is he right? I hope not. But if i can go down the track in a 265 hp car faster than i can in a 315 hp car than who cares.......

Exactly.. who cares. I lost 4rwhp SAE (318 - 314) way back when I installed my TP-4400. Car also lost 6 tenths in the quarter (12.67 - 12.07)

You're transmission would slag if you lost 50hp. Conservation of energy et all. The heat generated would be enormous.

i'd have to call b/s on 50

Expect about a 16-18 RWHP loss as compared to the stock converter when unlocked. The two converters will dyno the same when locked.

Tell MR. 50 RWHP guy he doesn't have a clue.

I lost 5RWHP/10RWTQ (@5400RPM), after my Y3000 2.0 STR install, on my 2001 Z28.

I do not believe you would lose 50RWHP.

I would not believe the 50 by a long shot either

I am interested in what I will lose though going from the M6 to a 200-4R with a TCI 3800 stall which weill be road ready in a couple of days.

I dynoed my TCI 3800 and lost 20hp unlocked vs. locked. That doesn't bother me to much though because it produces great track times and that's what counts to me
