deep trans pan or not?
its my only car, so i wanna do what i can to keep it going, but going fast.
i already got the 24k gvw trans cooler and a transgo shift CORRECTION kit.
anyone here got a deep aluminum trans pan?
does it reduce trans temp noticeably?
does it scrape speedbumps?
which one is the best one?
and i dont wanna hear no **** about "there is no BEST one" cuz we all know there is the good and the bad.
any replies on this matter would be appreciated.
Do you remember how much it cost or the part number?
Also do you use a different filter with a longer tube, or just the stock filter?
Thanks
#24208576-deep filter for above pan
These are the GM parts I used on my trans, adds 1 extra quart.I don't remember the exact cost but under $100 I think.

my SS. It was OK until I lowered the car 1" (Hotchkiss)

I'm gonna hit stuff with it, I want one that will dent
instead of crack. I got the steel pan from SDPC --->
and it was $35.99 + ship vs $94.64 list. It has a low-
profile drain plug. You will need short bolts to install,
I don't know what length the factory are but my TCI
deep pan was on there with 30mm M8x1.25s and they
bottomed before clamping the thinner steel pan flange.
Get yourself some M8x1.25 - 20mms if you go with a
steel pan, 16-20 of 'em, ahead of time.
Also the deep TCI pan required the four little posts to
be ground down to work with the deep truck filter and
the steel one won't take it. So now I'm using the
shorter truck filter.
I liked the deeper pan with more juice and the filter
deeper into it, but I like clearing bumps more....
I think with a
cooler, a few fins on the bottom of the pan are not
going to buy you much in terms of temperature.

I have not scraped, but I don't drive her a whole lot and I avoid speed bumps and sharp inclines.
lower than stock. The lowest point is the drain plug
but the fins are close behind. Measure 4-1/2" down
from the trans pan gasket and there's your new
ground clearance. The SLP Eibach suspension might
gain you 1/4" ride height over mine.
If you use the deep filter you may have to grind 3/8"
to 1/2" off the "nubs" that support the filter plate.
Have to fit it up and see. The deep pan is set up for
stock-height filters, as cast. But for hard use I like
having the filter down further in the juice.
Yes, they fit.
My TCI deep pan is made for the 700R4
I can't give you any specific figures on temperaturre drop due to the pan but I can tell you it's high quality, and it is made in America.
No scraping at stock ride height.
Overall I am totally satisfied with my TCI deep pan. Which is rare as I am a pretty picky guy when it come to parts.
