Default a4 Trans am Shift points

I just bought a 1998 Trans am A4 83k miles and the guy told me there was a shift kit in it and the shift points need to be adjusted?... Well anyways, wenever I race first gear shifts perfectly but second gear it doesnt shift and bounces off the rev limiter and I would have to let go off the throttle and then it would shift. Other than that the tranny shifts smootha nd perfect when I am driving normal. This is my first automatic Muscle Car so if anyone knows anything about this please help me out.

Its the classic lazy 2>3 shift from the 4l60e. You need to command your shifts earlier through a program like HPTuners or EFI-Live.

I'd invest in EFILive or HPT before spending money on the other mods. It's the single best "mod" you'll ever do; you'll use it again and again to keep your car optimally tuned as you mod it.

His tranny is the toaster and just isn't fried yet. Stock 4L60Es aren't very good on a stock Camaro. A shift kit shouldn't effect the shift times just the shift firmness. The CPU has total control of the shift points and no shift kit is gonna change that. I had my stock tranny built back to stock and it still wouldn't nail the 2nd to 3rd shift. I replaced it with a Performabuilt Stage 2 and no more troubles.

tuning the PCM will get rid of it, although you may have a problem with the transmission.
