Default Torque Converter Question

Im buying a new th400 for my 01 Z28 seeing as mine is trashed. My question is if there are some metal shavings in my pan, will i have to get a new converter also? A guy told me since there are shavings in the pan they would also be in the converter housing and there is no way to clean it out.

You would need to get it cut opened, cleaned, and welded back up. If it was a stock converter I would just get another one, not worth investing the money into a stock converter IMO.

I would send it in for a refresh cut/clean.

It can be flushed. If you find some one with a torqueconverter flusher, a drain plug can be installed and it can be powerflushed. They work excellent for just your application.
