Default Looking for ideas or conformation...

About to fab up an aluminum plate to replace the rubber (t56 boot) since I've changed to a TH400...

I'm thinking take a piece of cardboard and holding it up to the hole from underneath, having another person trace out the edge of the hole and then adding about 3/4" border, as a template for my replacement plate.... then mounting this shifter somehow on stands...

Oh my shifter is this without the cover...

I would like others ideas or even shots of how you mounted your aftermarket shifters.

Thanks,

Duff

I used the rubber cover as a template and traced it on a spare flat TA hood. Cut it out and formed the curve then screwed it in placed with the factory screws. I'm also using the Pro Ratchet and mounted it directly to the plate.

awaiting one of the rubber boots in the mail... pics of your setup under the console???

Also, I've searched and read as much as I could find... How (other than opening up the case) can you tell if you've got a trans brake?

Thanks,

D

If it has a brake the line pressure will be locked there fore it will not use a vacuum modulator. So, if it has a vacuum modulator attached, it most likely will not have a brake.

Below are some pics of a couple different cars that I converted recently. Depending on the console and the application I will cut a piece of aluminum plate to match the "footprint" of the shifter mounting plate.

Hope that helps!

Damn the luck, I just put all the interior back in my car last week. The only shot I have is with the console on and the leather boot off. I've also got one from under the car showing the bottom side

Gilbert, Thank you, thats almost exactly what I was looking for

Now I've got a few other questions.......

(none of the pictures below are mine - GOOGLE searched literally for 15-20 hours - don't have camera lately)

On my drivers side which looks similar to this is a 1-connection plug above the back of the pan as seen here and it looks like the connection below that...

Now mine isn't this clean...

and whats this one ? It's in the tail behind the pan...

IF it's speed sensing, what do I do to use it? Is it the same as my T-56 connection and straight in???

Thank you! ! !

The single spade connector is for kickdown shifting. It will need to see a 12v signal at WOT.

Remove the speedo sensor and verify that it is a magnetic pick up type sensor vs. a gear driven sensor. Count the teeth on either setup and let me know your tire diameter and gear ratio and I'll make sure you're good to go. The magnetic sensor should have 40 teeth.

Alright, I've read that downshifting is bad on these transmissions, but kickdown I understand is when it shifts itself down to pick up torque right?

Do I add a switch on my throttle to send battery voltage to the spade connector at WOT? My tune is currently for an M6... Should I change that to A4 and modify the daylights out of it?

Thanks
