anyone purchase from Monster Trans I am planning on rebuilding my tranns,but read the thread where the poor guy did such a great job,but something went wrong,,thats me..(just lastnight i go to pay for a ticket at the police station,and get a speeding ticket on the way their)

I like the prices,,seem to have good reviews,free shipping... their best trans rate for 650hp is like $1300 on sale....others here on LS1 are WAYYY more...

To get a good build you are going to have to put some money into it.
If you have just bolt on's you can get by with a good rebuild and that will save you quite a bit. A good rebuilder can do a quality rebuild with a couple of upgraded parts for around $1000. Any cheaper than that and I would be skeptical of the quality of work and the parts that were used. And that's if you do the labor of pulling and installing the transmission.
If you are strapped for cash look for a good condition used one. If you keep the fluid changed in them and use a good cooler they will hold quite a bit of power for a while.

You looked up the early 4L60E's. Those aren't made for our cars. The only transmission they have in the $1300 range for our cars is rated to hold 275 hp, that's less than the factory output!!

Do a quick search on this forum and I'm sure you will see reviews to tell you to run like hell! I know I saw one thread here where a guy posted a video that I found to be pretty funny! Well marketed but not built in the same fashion IMO!

I bought a guys project that he couldn't finish. Part of the deal was a MONSTER stage 2 4L60e. The trans was new, it lasted 2 summers and about 5000 miles behind my 400 whp LT1. I installed it with a huge trans cooler and changed the fluid several times!
Wouldn't recommend MONSTER I have a PERFORMABUILT now that I will install this winter.

I run a shop in MA and have the chance to fix both of there units. They were basically stock units. no real upgrades. they would have looked at the units themselves but wanted us to pull the transmission send it to them and wait. one guy i had bought a mad dog unit and wouldnt do anything for the kid. go local so if you have issues you can go back to them. you should pay around 1000 for a good unit with the right stuff.
I called many people just to get a feel for them before I decided on someone. If you are going to turbo a 5.3 with a 4L60E you better have one damn good builder or just go straight to a 4L80E.
