Only 2 clicks?

I'm about halfway through my flex plate and TC install and I put the torque converter on the input shaft and it slid on a good ways and stopped. I spun and spun and spun and then it clicked two times an slid on more! I spun for another good 2 minutes while pushing but I didn't want to damage the pump so I stopped and just did the rear main seal.
I checked clearance with a straight edge and it's about .900" from the mating side of the belhousing. With an SFI flex plate, should I anticipate one more click or was it just lined up good and passed the first click? Thanks and happy new year!
Kyle
P.S.: Any tips or things to remember when doing flex plate, rear main, or torque converter?

I would pull yhe TC out of the pump and reseat it slowly turn with a small amount of pressure while turning untill the 3 clicks, try and try again
I do not think .900 is enough clearance
now I am no 'spert, just I would not install the trans untill I were sure the TC was seated
just my .02'

Good thing I always pace myself over these jobs
pulling it out will be no problem!! Now how long should I be spinning this guy? Does it help to lift and support it while spinning? How hard can I push? Just making sure I get it complete correct!!!
Thanks much! And thank you Circle D for the converter and flex plate
OUTSTANDING quality!!!!

You dont have to push hard at all really .Do you have the trans up on its tale, or are you doing it with the trans horizontal?
All the times ive installed em, Ill do it standing the trans up, and the weight of the converter, with a little bit of wiggling/turning will get em to drop in right.

It's horizontal. I just backed it off the motor. I guess I will pull it off tonight and see if I can't get three clicks out of it. Haha it's hard being on my back. Just my counting gets off because when I get it on the input shaft, it's kinda clunky. I don't know where to start counting! Haha if I get three clicks though, is .900" acceptable? I know it's a little tight, but could it be possible? Thanks for the replies everyone!

livinloud777 - That sucks, but serves as a good warning pic to those who might not understand how important it is to get the converter installed correctly. Make sure to flush the trans and converter.
OP - Usually the last clunk requires light pressure while turning the converter back and forth to fully engage it.
