Car vibrates at idle, new engine mounts, do I need a converter?

They all shake. Hard mounts just couple it to the chassis
rather than float it. If your vibe is at motor frequency then
you could look at converter balance which does vary, but
if it's random and a couple of hiccups per second rather
than a continuous low frequency vibration, the converter
isn't doing it (other than being lighter mass so as to soak
up less crank jerk).
