No pic of the pan and it was.still in the car when I pulled then pan the color of the very fine metal shavings was like a dark grey it had been throwing the p 1860 code for a long te I took it yo.the Trans builder he said if it broke we would fix it the converter would not ever lock up I thought it could have been the lockup switch but he didnt have time to look when I brought it to him but when it quit completely there was no noise at all no clunks or bangs just stopped pulling and as I was babying it home if I would give over half throttle it would slip and the.trans temp was pretty high I think like 190 or 210

Would not ever lockup such as cruising speeds like 60 mph when you feel it lock up it pulled fine till the night I was racing and hit the nitrous

sounds like ears on the front pump broke. I had the same problem a long time ago. You will have to pull the trans mission and the converter and check behind the pump seal. there should be two ears there where the converter splines onto. even if that is not the problem it sounds like the transmission should have been rebuilt before installing the converter and now the whole transmission is toast.

If there is metal flakes in the pan then they have been circulating through the trans and converter so I would say that the converter is going to need a rebuild also

a lot of times if the convertor is bad you'll hear grinding or metal to metal contact. is it quiet at idle?

At this point there both junk. If either one took a **** there is crap all thru the trans and converter. Honestly i would send the converter to coan or vigilante cuz u will never get any help from yank, and there converters for 4l60s are **** in my opinion. Get the tranny gone thru, flush ur trans cooler and get the converter refreshed.

If you are on your 4th trans you need to get a better transmission builder or switch to a th400 since you seem to do a lot of racing

I would bet your lines are filled with trash and your transmission can't get the right pressure to hold a gear
