Hey Lou I just read this entire thread, I hope you are making things right and by the sound of all the recent reviews from customer it sounds like you are! Your prices are killer and with the commitment to customer service you have, things will get better for you! I may need to get a new trans at some point (my 2-3 shifts aren't the greatest). When I do you are first on my list to contact. Do you guys refresh 3-4 clutch packs?

 

Let me rephrase last sentence; do you guys Offer a refresh on the 3-4 clutches?

 

We do not offer a just a refresh on just the 3-4 clutch packs. We do not do Patch work.

I figured out what was wrong. You were right it was set to private. I fixed it. It should work now.

I bought this TH400 godfather tranny from maddog 3 or 4 years ago and have ran the living hell out of it in my 86 K5. Its got mainly hard driven trail miles on it. That ranges from tire pulls, mud pits and pulling out rigs stuck to their axles in clay.
My trucks got a fully built small block 355 with everything forged that can be a set of dart heads that have been worked over a B&m 144 supercharger and 150 shot of nitrous. its got a ord doubler set-up with 4.88 gears and 44 inch boggers. Through all the negative stories here is a positve. Ive got real time on one of your transmissions Lou and I can say that if you can build me a tranny for my upcoming camaro build that compares to this one you've got my business!!

In the last year I have successfully obliterated several TH400 transmissions in my 67 Pro Touring Camaro RS/SS. The reason... a 540 Merlin II under the hood. My engine came dyno tested at 680HP/770Ft. Lbs. of torque on pump gas. It's equipped the latest & greatest Pro Touring gadgets and hardware and my tranny of choice was a TH400. The original tranny was a COAN. It held up pretty good but finally gave up 2nd after about 4 months. I picked up a TCI TH400 with all the bells & whistles. It held up pretty good for 6 months and gave up a front pump, and 2nd gear. My third tranny had the pump pressure regulator stick closed and it blew the case apart before I got 50 feet. I put a stock TH400 in it with a re-programming kit and drove like a little old lady until I found a super quality TH400 builder. After reading all the feedback and customer satisfaction about Mr. Mad Dog Lou, I thought I'd give it a shot. I talked with Dale for about an hour and we came up with a good setup. Lou called me the next day and we talked a bit more about how my Camaro will be used. We made a few minor changes.

Six days later, my Mad Dog TH400 Stage III and a 2400 stall converter were here. We had the tranny installed in no time and ready for the first run. We put Dextron VI in it and cycled the gears to get the fluid traversing through the valvebody & servos.

It's show time! I backed out of the stall and rolled on to the street. I ratcheted the B&M Quicksilver down to 1st and set the Roll Control. I torked up the driveline at about 3000 RPM and launched. At 5600 RPM I slapped 2nd gear and it launched unlike any of the previous TH400's. It hit 2nd the hardest & fastest I've ever seen, and hit 3rd just as hard and fast. I brought the Camaro around for another pass and it was just as fantastic!

Lou told me that this would be the last transmission I will need for my Camaro, and I think he's right. The difference I felt in his transmission was incredible.

You guys really did a great job on my Stage III and I really believe this one will hold up to my BRUTAL 540 MERLIN.

"Hello Elliot, Lou & Chris, yes it's taken me a minute but I have to tell that you Guys are awesome. Your Stage 2 Trans was exactly what the Doctor ordered for my 1978 Chevy Corvette (Bear) ! It's 1 of the best improvements I've made in the restoration project of my Car. Doug Bree owner of Doug's Place (817-468-8818)installed the Transmission in no time but needed a few setup pointers on the it, so I gave you Guys a call & as usual I can always talk to someone , Lou talked the Tech @ Doug's Place (Arlington,Texas) & it was ready in less than 10 minutes ... that's Quality &Service. You I could have bought the Transmission locally but saw a Mad Dog ad in Car Craft & just called them, they offer the best Prices & Service people so please give these Guys a call. I love my gas mileage, plus a the get up & go my car has now.. yes it was a great improvement over my 350 Trans. Thank you Guys so much !!!!!!
