Default Rmvb th400

I have done alot of research on the driving habits of a rmvb. My question is i have read that retaining the intermediate band in a rmvb th400 makes it more street friendly. Is this true or no? If your wondering what tranny im looking at its a Rossler Terminator 1 th400.

Yes it is true. Otherwise, if you were in second, let off the gas, then whacked the throttle, there is a chance you could roll the intermediate sprag.

The band is there for engine braking, with that being said i have never used a rmvb that had engine braking i have heard good and bad about it.I build alot of units with rmvd's for street cars and never had any problems as long as you know how to drive with it on the street. If the car is more like a daily driver you might want to go with a unit that takes a band if the car is more of a track car then you really don't need a band in the unit.

A good rule of thumb is dont put it in 2nd, or 1st if you're going to fast for it to "normally" be there. You can throw it in 2nd at 130mph and it will just free wheel, but the internals go 2.5 times drive shaft speed and can explode!

Just use common sense..

Also use the brake to back up... If you put a lot of strain on reverse, it is also the direct high gear clutch pack and can wipe it out.

I understand not to down shift after getn on it hard. Im more concerned with normal driving. for instance, if im needing to slow down for a turn is it cool to hit second or it need to stay in third?

Shouldn't be. Depends on the VB though...I've heard some of the VB with a brake will require you to use the brake to engage reverse
