I am wondering what the proper way to launch in our autos is since we have
P
R
N
D
3
2
1
would we launch in 3 and finish with 3 or
keep it in D?
or is there really no difference since i believe its automatic overdrive?

D or 3. i use D. your not going to go into OD so it doesn't matter. although some say they hit the limiter sometimes in 3.

Its the same tranny, so yes their D would be our 3rd. And our last gear would be OD.

i do the burnout in 1, when it reaches redline, i throw it in 2 and hold it about 4400-5500rpm till the smoke is massive.

then launch in the top gear, you should not be shifting into top gear on a 1/4 mile run, if so you need more mods or bigger tires or something, the OD iirc has the overrun clutch so when you let off (Even though you aren't in top gear) it will not engine break at the end of the run causing a 110mph inertia to transfer into the driveline.

thats what i was told, i could be wrong. My car never shifts into top gear on the 1/4 mile i guess its too slow or something. traps 110-112mph (more 110mph) consistently.
