Default rev limiter going into 3rd

no matter what I do to the shift patterns it keeps hitting the limiter going into 3rd gear unless i lift on the gas pedal I think it might be a PCM problem.
I could use some advice from anyone with the same problem.

forgot to mention i have the 4l65e upgrade but had same problem with the 4l60e in it dealer wont help since it happens above 65 mph

I had the same problem on tranny #2, burnt 3-4 clutches were the culprits.

more then likely it is the 3-4 clutch pack. If you have maf ends on the car remove them. You might also check for any vacuum leaks. If you can't find any then the 3-4 clutch pack probably just went out from normal abuse.

any possible chance that your still on stock tune? stock shift points and what not? with a higher stall wouldn't you raise your shift points?

really depends on the degree of slippage that the converter puts out. If the converter has a 2000rpm slippage then it might hit the limiter if the shift point for 2-3 is set at 3100 rpms. I bet if you set the 2-3 shift point up 1500 rpms then it wouldn't hit it. But it seems to me that you have a flare up issue, which is playing hell on those clutches.

the tranny only has about 2000 miles on it and car only has 15000 miles total problem only happens when it at WOT and not during normal driving I had the same problem before the ST3500 was installed I've used HPP3 and Diablo with no help .Do you guys think a shift kit might help cause dealer will not drive car at WOT going into 3rd cause they say thats not normal driving I said thats the way I drive it . No maf ends just no screen but the HPP3 seems to help if I go -1 on the 2-3 shift .Had the same problem with the orignal tranny Thats why I'm leaning to the PCM might have a problem ?? what you guys think.

P>S this is a 02 convertable SS with 3.23's and a st3500 with 6000miles from my friends car that I know is good.
I went 12.74 with stock conv and 12.33 with stall w/a 1.67 but had to lift on gas to shift so I know 11's are close thats on nittos

I know this is going to sound crazy but it worked for me..I had the same problem after the heads and cam swap..When I would make a pass with the shifter in 3rd the car would do some weird shift on the 2-3..I did a search on this site and found where people was having the same problem..

To fix it make a pass with the shifter in OD..It worked for me and after 26,000 miles and 2 converter's its still running and shifting fine..Don't ask me why or how but all I know it worked for me...Just make sure your shiftpoints are below your rev limiter and more then likely this will fix the problem...

If it's still under warranty take it out on the highway, make sure there aren't any cops around, and run it at wot through third and shift into 4th at wot a few times. If the clutch pack hasn't completely gone by then, do a lot of burnouts. When it goes completely you'll only be able to do about 45, so that would be considered normal driving by the dealer. Just make sure you swap the stock converter back in so they won't void your warranty. If all else fails have a tranny shop tear it down and testify in court that there is a problem with the transmission and sue the bastards.

I going to try and leave it in overdrive at the track cause it seems to shift halfway better that way when on the street and was given that option to try by a few people....well see what happens this weekend at the track

I just replaced the sensor on side of the tranny. My buddy that works at a tranny shop sees these things go out all the time. Its not that exspensive either. 10min worth of work..

Same deal here at 46,000 miles I installed a 2800 stall t/c.
Going into 3rd at wot it would hit the rev limiter.
I've since tuned it with Predator and now is shifting fine.
Of course not everyones problems are the same but LS1TECH
rocks when it comes to getting different opinions.
Good luck Dude.

still hitting the rev limiter even in over drive ....going to try some tuning with the predator any suggestion as to what percent to start ....tried to lower the shift mph to 68 but still shifting at 80-84 have to let off gas pedal to shift my 60 ft is 1.67 and going 7.74 in 1/8@86-88 mph and still going 108-110 in 1/4 hitting the limiter so if I can get this thing right I know the car will see 11's easy as my best time is 12.33 on a 1.74 60ft
just bought a speed sensor ($12) geuss I'll try it what the hell
