Which tranny coolers DO I GO WITH?!
Im getting ready to install a Yank 2800 Stall in my 99SS which tranny cooler should I go with? Part number? can I just go with one at your local part store like at Orielys, or order one off line? Also any tips on the install as far as installing the transmission cooler or the converter install?
Thanks appreciate the input.

For a smaller stall like that you'd be fine with a lot of coolers. There are too many choices to list. B&M 70264 comes with an install kit which is nice but the cooler is on the smaller side. You can get a 30K GVW Hayden 679 cooler for pretty cheap, I got mine for $53 shipped to my door. Auto parts stores will sometimes carry those as well as their own generic brands, some people use those. People have also run Flex-A-Lite and one or two other brands.

You can use a cooler from a store with no problem. I personally went with a big flex-a-lite tube and fin from summit and my transmission temps stay pretty low even in traffic. I ran my transmission lines straight to the cooler by cutting the metal lines before where they go into the stock cooler in the radiator, then just running the new tubing from the cooler to there.

I got my Hayden from Amazon for a good price. Don't discount the Hayden without looking at them, the 679 is relatively big (not compared to Mark's gigantic Flex-A-Lite), it's designed for RVs and whatnot with a GVW rating of 30,000lbs. The B&M's are rated in BTU's but I saw a thread once that had the weight rating too, I think they're 24k - 28k. All about the same price.

I've got a largish Hayden mounted horizontal, with brackets
made from one of those snap-in shelving sticks. Easy as can
be, works fine, cheap enough. I think I posted pics back when
I did it. Better than mounting it to the rad directly.

Thanks for the input ill probably go with the 70264. Hey Ls6427 did the mounting brackets that are in your pictures come with the cooler or did you make them yourself? During your install did you have to cut the orginal tubes off to get the stock tranny cooler off, and if so does it come with everything to install?Do you have to bleed the system at all?

When I install my cooler, I'm gonna piggy back off of the stock cooler.
Into the radiator, out to the cooler and to the return. Might as well put the radiator to work if it's there.
