Who to go with for built 4L60, FLT or RPM? (updated!! 11/11/12)
11/11/2012 update on post#23
So I need some help deciding on who to go with for my rebuild. The shop I am using to remove the trans and install it normally uses RPM. The shop have never had any issues using RPM's products. So they suggest going with RPM but say FLT is a great option as well. I am thinking FLT due to great feedback on the forum. I spoke with Chuck a couple times and seems like a good guy that knows his business. I live 30 mins from him so I planned on dropping mine unit off and having him go through it to see what was the issue. Is seems FLT is cheaper then RPM too. What does anyone think, good or bad let me know what you think I should do. Thanks.

Both are good companies to use for a 4L60E.
I don't see how you could go wrong using FLT since they are so close to you.
There are times when the only or best choice for a transmission is to order one online, however when you have a respected company close to you, you should use them.

Yes I was thinking FLT too, since he is willing to actually take the trans apart first to see what the problem is. If you weren't soo far from me you could have been a option. Seems like you do great work.

I personally went with FLT. This is the second FLT Level 4 I've had and it has not once skipped a beat even though I beat on it regularly, just like the first one. Plus, Andy has provided excellent customer service!

Since FLT is so close to you, go to them. Otherwise, Id use RPM, hands down! Their customer service is second to none, and behind just about every fast and record setting LSx in the country, their trans is in it..
I have a T56 from RPM, and a 4L60e from FLT and both are VERY good builds! My 60e has been abused since installed with a Yank SS3600, and my RPM trans has 60k+ miles of daily driving and abuse. The ONLY reason I didnt go with RPM when I got my 60e built was downtime, I needed it fast and they were backed up a few weeks more than FLT.

how much power are you guys throwing at these 4l60e's you have?
From experience mine holds 540whp with no problem in stock form. well only upgrade was the beast shell and corvette servo. everything else was stock. and this is a garage built tranns by my pops who has over 30 years experience as a builder. so you should be good with either company.

Another satisfied RPM customer, Im running their level 4 and a vig 3600 with tci flexplate and cooler. Got it taken care of fast, and amazing customer service up there. I had an oil leak somewhere on the back of the engine too and they went the extra mile to get it taken care of for me.

Mjs- my trans was built previous by a local guy 3-4yrs ago. I never felt like the Trans was right though. Chuck wants to go through to see what is there and it may be possible to reuse most of it. He is pulling it apart now, ill let you know what path ill be taking.

So went by FLT tonight, Chuck had my transmission pulled apart. Talked to him for about an hour about how my trans was built previously. He went part by part and explained how he usually does things compared to how this one was built. The previous build was a joke compared to the new build. He said there wasn't much he could possibly use from the previous build so he recommended his level 3 said it would be plenty for my setup. Turns out he gave me a sweet deal to upgrade to the level 4 so decided that would be my best option. Should be finished end of next week, I'll you guys updated.
