Cutting ears off bell

Cutting ears off bell
My Hughes T400 is literally brand new. Bolted behind the LM7 in my 67 chevelle there are these nice big gaps for my headers to fit, except for those two big useless ears where the dust cover bolts onto the lower bell. I need to trim off a good bit of bell housing to fit through the gaps. The bell is SO much wider than the Ls engine.
Now only someone as stupid as me takes a cut off wheel to his brand new tranny. Anyone else as stupid as me? In other words, any insight on potential problems or cutting material options? I might get a pic posted here soon.

cutoff wheels are the fastest by far and they are the most dangerous by far as well. Face shield and safety glasses always. We use them a lot when we build our circulators/rigs etc. Very handy and very precise, straight cutting. Be careful with it. When they grenade...it's bad for everyone in the immediate area.
