4l60e out of a 2004 silverado ???
will the speedo and everything work right
The primary (only?) difference between a 4L60E for different vehicles is how soft/firm the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator springs are, how big a few holes in the separator plate are and whether it has a standard or Corvette servo. Many people like to upgrade to the Corvette servo for performance applications, but some people have reported problems (binds or flares) with this unless they also increase the size of the 2nd gear and 3rd gear holes in the separator plate.
GM sells like 10+ different separator plates for different applications, but you can just buy the Transgo universal plate for '96 through '06 and drill it according to the supplied instructions.
In other words, it is an excellent transmission, but you might consider upgrading it with a the Corvette servo (which was standard on F-body cars) and a shift kit or at least a performance boost valve.
However, tail housing are easy to swap. I have bought tailhousings, bellhousings, valve bodies and other parts from ebay seller "powertrainpartsplus" and have always been happy. They have several 4L60E tailhousings on sale now for $39.
Ted.

I'm not an expert on this, but have answered similar threads many times without correction. Just be sure that your trans bellhousing has a mounting hole in the 12 O'clock position as this indicates it is LS compatible with a 300mm input shaft.
