Ok. Kind of out of the norm. Running a 01 Tahoe on dirt figure 8 races in Joliet Il. Looking for cheap as possible. Real low buck fun. A Camaro shifter run full pump pressure disconnect PWM? 1st gear is a waste on the mud. My thoughts are shift into 3rd gear. This hits a switch to power the 3-2 soleniod. With a toggle switch I could control the 1-2 and 3-4 solenoids. I am looking to run just 2nd and 3rd. When I **** into reversing. Have another switch turn both solenoids on and the 3-2 soleniod off. I know glide or a 400 but then I have transfer case and mounts and 2 drive shafts. So one soleniod on for 2nd gear both solenoids off for 3rd. The shifter in 3rd turns on the 3-2. So a real cave man paddle shifter. Am I wasting my time?

a 4l60 will run 2 and 3 not even hooked up to power. 3rd will be default, then will shift into 2nd if you pull it into 2nd manually (or 1st but it wont go into first). not sure if this is safe though...

Thanks for the reply. There is no need for all 4 gears in the mud. I think a switch is easier than manually shifting. 1st is on on, 2nd is on off and 3rd is off off. When I shift into 3rd have a micro switch for the 3-2 solenoid. when I go to reverse have a switch power them on on. let it run full pressure like it would in limp mode. We start from a roll on mud and maybe a 2200-2500 stall so the 2nd gear band should be safe starting in second. Anybody else?
