Default powerglide or 80e

ive been debating making my stock 6spd car into an auto due to the recent changes in build. im going to be running an f1r in a 98 fbody forged internals in a 6.0 with ported l92s stock weight with 3.42 gears sees almost all street/cruise night miles some street racing. would a glide be better or an 80e? some other car guys suggested a glide. if i were to go glide what converter would be best or is there a better option for the set up also budget is a concern as is with everyone in this economy. really looking for whats worked for others and what hasnt i dont wanna blow through the tires everytime i wanna do a hard launch but i dont wanna have the rpms way high while im cruising down the hwy or in town either

I was in the same boat as you are and I was torn between a 80e or a Th400 ( mainly due to the price) and I rulled out the TH400, reason is I wanted to drive and enjoy it and not have a trailer queen. And from there I was in between a 80e and a T56 and I went with a T56 due to I like to row my own gears but a 80e is a good choice as well there is jake's in Sanger,Texas that I would have gone with they do a turn key job for 4200 I think i'm not sure you will have to get with them and see. I went with Texas Drive and Performance and Jason and Fabian did a real good job on my stage 3 Tranny and clutch. You can do a cheap 80 swap look up 72camaro he has a thread on how to do it and I think he had maybe 2,000 into his and he did it himself and I think he was putting down 750 RWHP I think i'm not 100% on those numbers.
