I use a A/C condensor from pullapart! Never get over 110*. Cost $20. Measure how much space you got, go look at any from a Cadi to a corolla !!

That's a great idea, never thought of that one! If the OP goes with an aftermarket cooler, be sure to go with a stack/plate style over the tube and fin. The plate style is around 33% more efficient . I just ordered 2 Hayden 679s yesterday for the EA stage II 2004R that's on order. Im hoping my dual electric fan setup for my engine will pull enough air through them to keep my trannie cool during stop light sets. But my car is a 72 Camaro with a big air opening to help get the cold air to the coolers. In a 4th gen, its a bigger issue to get air at a stop light. Good luck!

^^not to hijack, but can you set it to turn on at a certain temp or do you just have to keep an eye on it with a manual switch? Also, are you using a push or pull fan? I dint think I have room for a puller fan where mine is mounted.

I put this cooler on my G8. From what I found out its rated at 20,500 BTU. My temps don't really go above 170 unless I'm really ******* it. Can't beat the price. It's made by long too. You could add an 8" fan for about $20.

You need a fan control kit from Jegs or Summit if you want it to turn on at a certain temp.

B&M makes a stack plate cooler w a fan that has a sensor, wiring and everything in one box. It is preset to turn the fan on at 175*. It is between 210 and 235 bucks at Summit depending on the cooler size. Its not a bargain ebay unit, so its not cheap, but it gets really good reviews as a stand alone high performance trans cooler setup.

Do they sell the fan separate? Link? That fan would definitely help during stop and go traffic.

I cant do the link thing, but I can tote heavy stuff, LOL. Im not up on the computer thing, but go to Summit Racing.com and pull up trans coolers. It is on the first page of about 50 pages they list on trans coolers. It is a complete unit, as far as I can tell, but I thing there are "install kits " that may have a temp sensor/relay to "build" your own setup. I think after all the parts are gathered you will wind up having as much in the unit as you would if you just bought the unit as a kit.
