Default 4l80e questions

Hey guys, recently got a 99 model 80e in a trade. Well previous owner stated it worked at startup and would slip at temp. It wasn't running hot according to him, just would slip when reaching normal operating temp. Any insight on what it might be? Another thing is after I dipped the pan, looked like chunks of grease in the pan. Almost looked like caliper grease, best way of describing it along with copper flakes. I know it needs a rebuild, but I wanna get some opinions before I get someone to check it out as its hard finding an honest builder in my area. Any opinions are appreciated, thanks fellas.

Likely a worn pump but it's impossible to tell without disassembly. Could be a simple as a contaminated boost valve. With the debris, you have a safe bet it will need rebuilding.

I've done some builds for Flaco's Performance customers, and Tellez Motorsports. They are both in South Texas. Tellez does some of their own builds using parts we supply.

Well started to tear it apart outta boredom in my shop, aka bedroom floor. So far od clutches are toast and by turning the shaft you hear badass crunching lolz, so guessing its the roller clutch that blew up and well as a tang thingy in top of the carrier. Need to take it apart tomorrow. Woulda gotten it all apart but ran into a problem, the forward drum is stuck the **** doesn't wanna come out. Pulled it about half an inch and it turns but it's hanging up on something. Any help is appreciated, here are some pics.

Wow, it might be better to get another 4L80E from the junk yard. Else you will be paying money for hard parts, which are either expensive or cheap-Chinese ones.

That's no fun, I like working with what I have. Used to it I guess, always been my luck. What better way to learn than the hard way right?
