Default Verter on my Convert A-4 ??

I am interested in purchasing a Torque Converter for my 2001 Chevy Z-28 A-4 Convertible.

I have the stock 2.73 gears and the engine has a SLP air lid, free ram air mod, Magnaflow cat back exhaust and HyperTech computer programming.

The long block is stock and I desire to keep it that way. The stock gears are quiet and strong so I want to put in a converter to wake it up. I am looking for street performance with occasional track use 2-3 times a year. I live in Florida where snow is not an issue. I will run stock tires or possibly a stickier type of tire like Nittos or BFG softer compound (BUT NOT DRAG RADIALS) around town.

I am looking for more boost off the line and a good pull to the shift. I was thinking a 3200 with a 2.0 STR
What do you recommend for this application.
Thanks
Speedy Z

I have the Yank SY 3500 1.7 STR with 323's.
would work great with your 273's & would also be easy on the shifts. does not hit hard @ all. However, punch it & hold on!!!
Light to light you simply cannot beat this Vert.
also, with any aftermarket TQ Conv. it is always a good idea to do a Tran's cooler/ tran's temp guage.

Since, you have 2.73's I would go with a higher STR to keep it tighter.

I have the old Yank ST3500 / 2.5 STR, 2.73 gears, light mods. Put it in at ~45K miles and now will have 100K miles sometime this week. It has never disappointed me, although I'm traction limited off the line with 245/50 16s. It is a little "loose" around town, but I've driven with it for over 2 years so I guess I'm used to it. It locks at around 50 mph in OD but will stay locked down to about 45 mph. Second gear is killer since the rpms will spool up quickly when you punch it, and as you know will roll up over 100 (about 108 for me) before the 2-3 shift. I don't have any personal experience with any of the other TCs available out there for this car, but this one has served my needs well. The only caveat is I had to work on adjusting shift points via HPP3 and many Autotap runs to get optimum shifting. But hey, we got some great tools out there now compared to 20-30 years ago, huh?
Anyway, my 2 cents.

TCI 3500 would be a great converter for your car.

With 2.73 gears and a heavy car, a converter will feel a bit looser in your car than most. Also a converter will really do wonders with the 2.73 gears. All of the following will do fine:

Yank SS3600
Vig 2800
TCI 3200
