I have reverse and when I put it in drive it will not shift out of first. I did not try manually shifting it. However I should note that I have been reading about a vacuum modulator and I know I DID NOT hook it up. I have done a LS swap and have no idea where this line goes. I understand this could be the problem. can someone explain to me where this vacuum line goes for the modulator? I also have no kick down switch, which I am to understand is fine.

It won't shift with the modulator disconnected so you need to connect it to a vacuum source on the motor.

Ok hooked up the vacuum line, still wont shift while in drive. But it will shift into 2nd gear manually. Or maybe I just havent been going fast enough. I have only taken it in my development about 25 mph. Do these TH400 shift at a certain speed or rpm? Or maybe the vacuum modulator is broken or stuck? Any thoughts?

You also want to check the nylon Govener gear. It could be stripped!
