Default 1998 4l60e

Will it work with a 2002 Caddy Lq9? bolt up, and Pcm?

If and only if it has a 300mm input shaft which is indicated by a bolt hole at the 12 0'Clock position in the bell housing. The input shaft and bell housing MUST look like this:

Actually just this morning I found a guy with a 4L60e out of a 2002 Youkon, and it does have the bolt hole in the 12 o'clock position. Has 88K miles on it. Will Probably buy it.

That sounds like a good choice.

98-02 were the same in the cars so yes it should work. I have a 98 trans in my 01.

Waited too long on the Transmission out of the Youkon I found, but now I have a line on another....

2000 S-10 Extreme, 2.2L....is the 4l60e in it different strength wise than the one in a Suv or full size truck?

The 2000 is still an excellent choice. The vehicle does not make any difference to the strength. However, a 2000 will not have the hardened sun shell that GM starting to use in '02/'03. That is about the only difference.

Thanks.....I had read somewhere....(and you know everything on the internet is true), that the 60e behind the 2.2 did not have as many clutches, and steels....

But in retrospect, that really does not make any sense ......

Just be sure it is a 300mm input shaft trans as in my earlier picture.
Hmmm, a 2.2L is not a V8, so it is probably not the correct type of trans.

All 4L60E ('95 and later anyway) have the same number of frictions.
The 4L65E/4L70E has 7 frictions in the 3/4 clutch instead of 6.

I have not seen it, but the owner called the dealer and they told him it was a
60e.....and they did put 60e's in the 2000 S-10 2.2L extremes.....

My choices are to buy a used one for around $400 or so, or wait a bit, save some cash and buy one from a local builder for around $1300.

With a used one: buyer beware, with a builder I have a place to go if it breaks....

Have not found a good local builder in the Charleston Sc area.

If I buy from Proforma, or Flt or out of state company, then I have to remove, ship, etc if it breaks....

What to do? What to do?
