Default 4l80e shifters for Fbodies

What kinds of shifters are available for a 4l80e that fit in a 4th gen? My car is currently M6 so I figure an aftermarket shifter might be better vs finding a stock set up, what options do I have?

I've looked into and couldn't find an option that seemed to work well for the 80e. I just use the stock shifter and had to adjust the bracket so the shifter was lined up right.

then you didnt look hard enough...

TCI Outlaw shifter.

I actually mounted mine on a pedestal so it would sit exactly where I wanted it to...
but you can mount it in the stock location if you wanted to.

yes... its desigend for any 4 speed transmission...forward or reverse valve body

they also make gates for it for other transmissions as well...

its a universal shifter with interchangeable gates.

also works with the TCI 6x that I drive(which is a modified 4l80)

That looks killer, is there a major benefit to running aftermarket vs stock in your opinion since you've tried both?

You can make ANY shifter work that is designed for a 4 speed trans. Just about any shifter will require some sort of modification to make it work.

I've seen some guys use M6 upper consoles to make things easier....

Others have hacked their A4 upper console and put in a more 'race' oriented shifter....

Some have even gone console-less.....

Others keep it simple and run stock....

I plan to do whatever it takes to adapt a B&M Pro Ratchet shifter into the A4 upper console like this....

I just got done building another mount. This one fits the B&M Pro Stick in the factory console. I already have one that fits the Hurst Quarter Stick into the factory console. Hurst quit producing the 4speed shifter so I had to go with another. Hasn't made it to classified section yet, but will in a day or two. This will work with the 60e if you'll drill the cable out and put it on the factory shifter arm. PM me if interested in one.. BTW, they make an adapter for the 80e too.

This is probably a dumb question, but since the TCI Powerglide shifter is the cheapest, I can buy that and then just buy the 4-speed gate correct?

Anyone who has the answer to my (probably ignorant) question, please feel free to chime in!

Not really familiar with that shifter. MOST shifters, yes; you just change out the shifter gate and it adjusts how many gears the shifter will actuate. If the shifter is named Powerglide, I would dig a little deeper.
