4L60E broken
My 4L60E broke on my 2002 Z28 Camaro back in November.
Problem: the car well not Reverse it acts as in Neutral and in Neutral it rolls forward. I also cannot push it backwards in R or N.
Specs: 60k miles brand new Royal tranny fluid and kings filter.
I've tried messing with the linkage cable that didn't work.
My question is how can I fix it ? Do I buy another one, and how much ? Do I rebuild and how much ? I'm only 17 so once I know my solution I well start working to fix it.
Thank for the help guys

My suggestion is to find a local trans shop (not a chain) and have them check it and rebuild if necessary. You might visit an auto shop that does not do transmissions and ask them for a reference.
I would also suggest NOT trying to rebuild it yourself; it takes specialized tools and I estimate that fewer than 50% of first-time rebuilds work properly. It is extremely unlikely you would save money trying to rebuild it yourself. The members here that do it (like myself) do it for fun, education and/or personal satisfaction, not to save money.

Disconnect the driveshaft and pull it out of the transmission and it'll roll without issue Lift up the rear, put stands under it, pull the caps off the rear end of the driveshaft from the rear diff(where the u-joints are) and slide it towards the front of the car until it comes off the rear diff(sometimes you need to tap it the caps with a hammer) and then drop it down and slide it out.

If true, you won't have 2nd or 4th gear either.

The transmission will have to be pulled, the valve body, pump, 2-4 band, and the input clutch assemblies removed. You'll need at the minimum, a new band, hardened billet band anchor pin, and possibly a reverse clutch drum.

If the trans has more than 100,000 miles on it, this is right time for a complete rebuild.

It is my understanding that even if all the electrical is not working this trans will default to one forward and reverse gear. So I don’t think it is an electrical issue. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
The low/reverse and reverse input clutches are applied in reverse, It is a good possibility that one these sets of clutches are worn out. Remove the trans oil pan and inspect for burnt fluid and clutch material in the bottom of the pan. Another possibility is that the sun shell is broken. All of which would require the trans to be taken apart. Sorry but it doesn’t look good.

You are correct bbond105.
Even with the electrical connector disconnected, you will have reverse and 3rd gear. The trans then also goes to maximum line pressure.
