This is correct. The yank card says "dex 6 is ok"

I used dex 6 with my ss3600 install 38k miles ago. Not only did I fill the pan and converter. I drained the whole transmission and put roughly 10qts of dex 6 in it. Car and trans has 130k and shifts great. No complaints here either.

Sorry guess I missed that, just thought it worth mentioning for those who might read it as "synthetic is better for all applications"

I always used reg valvoline dex III. I just installed a triple clutch converter for wot lockup and did a tranny service. I'm now using full synthetic Valvoline Maxlife ATF. Just figured a full syn can handle heat a little better. So far the highest temp I've seen is 180* for a brief moment after beating on it on the fwy. Shifts nice and firm.

I change mine every spring and use NAPA dex 3.

Is dextron 3, 5 and 6 compatible with the 4L60E?

Is dextron 6 the "go to" fluid now?

Any modern ATF is fine. I prefer to see more frequent fluid changes and use cheaper fluid.
The synthetic can handle higher temp but it's not as much as you would think when you look at the actual specs on the fluid.

In extreme abuse applications, we've seen good results using tractor trans/hydraulic fluid. John Deere HyGard or equivalent. It lasts longer in turbo combos that try to melt everything down spooling at the launch.
