Default 4l65e Metal Flakes in Oil

Hey guys I had a cork gasket leak on a trans with only 3k on it so I pulled the pan to replace it... When I did I was sort of shocked to find shavings on the magnet.... When I wiped a cloth through the pan it came up with more shavings... from the picture I would just like to get some opinions on the matter and direction to go. Thanks for the help

The direction to go is back to whoever rebuilt the trans. Something is getting chewed up badly. I suppose it could be the converter, but in any case you will have to get both the converter and the trans rebuilt. Also replace any aftermarket cooler and thoroughly flush the cooling lines and stock cooler.
No, you cannot just flush the converter; it also needs to be carefully inspected to see if it is the source of the metal flakes.
Sorry not to have better news.

Yeah that doesn't look good. Back to the trans shop you go.

Thanks for the reply
The trans was basically a mail order deal and it is four years old and out of warranty, what I am trying to decide is if a reputable shop in town would be the way to go or just cut my losses buy a new trans from a good company... I suppose it wouldn't hurt to fill it back up and take it somewhere to get it diagnosed, just don't want to get into $500 of charges and be at square one

I would change the fluid and go on driving it until something fails. Not much to lose as long as you don't get stranded.
