stall installed finally im not sure i like the way my car drives with my new stall. i have to give it plenty of gas to get it moving to keep up with normal traffic. between 2k & 2500 rpm with my 2:73's. car much louder , i dont like attracting john law. now my car in park rolls, something must be loose with my linkage. grrr im not sure a stall was right for me. my 45 mph deadspot is gone and the car pulls much harder / quicker so maybe i'll be happy next year at my clubs dyno day. the mustang dyno also has a simulated quarter mile. i know some of you posted gears wont make it much faster but will help the stall drive better, its between 3:23's & 3:42's for a cruiser which would you pick? thx ps around 40 mph if a give it a smidge of gas i get a vibration / noise , until i give a little more gas. crazy. poly trans mount or just the way the converter acts at such a low rpm (like 1200)

Have you had a converter tune? It may be the converter locking up at low rpms and low speeds, mine did that before the converter tune, had it tuned so it would not lock in 1, 2 or 3rd and will only lock in 4th above 40 mph
xhd extreme heavy duty. got it from jegs on sale , after plenty of research found it was made by transmission specialties came with billet cover, oversize billet lockup plate , anti balloon plate or plates, torrington bearings, rated 600hp on jegs site, 850hp on trans spec site. im sure a sponser could build you one similar.
^^^ This. My ss3600 with 3.23's locks up at 50mph and its perfect for part throttle lockup vs low end torque with no bog down at all.

get a mail order tune from frost then stalls really arent hard to tune for. the driveability could partly be related to the brand. manufactures can make a 3k stall drive almost stock or they can make it feel like you're driving through mud. thats the problem with stalls that no one runs... you never know how they drive until you dive into it.
i will say that 3.42's are about perfect for a dd. you wont feel much difference with those vs 3.73's but it will help keep the rpms down some. you will be right around 2450 @ 80 in OD. Also I wouldnt be looking for any crazy dyno #'s with a stall. if they dyno it unlocked you may actually lose a couple ponies because the new stall will be less efficient. if its locked then it shouldnt change. either way the car will be faster despite what the dyno says.

ok thats different then, everything else in my reply hods true for your setup though.... 2.73s suck for pretty much everything 3.42s will change the whole feel of the car and cost maybe 1.5mpg on the hwy
They are ok and im runnin them only because that's what it came stock with and I don't wanna change them out for the 3.42's I have from another rearend. Id personally would like to swap to 3.42's but Im going procharged soon and probably gonna buy an s60 with 3.73's. I have had another fbody with 3.42's in it and like them better. I wanna say 70mph @ like 2050-2100rpm maybe with the 3.23's?
a stall makes the trans shifts softer. you will most likely never chip the tires when shifting with a stall. people usually up the pressures just to be able to feel the car shift at all.
shift extension is inherent to the stall there no changing that. being that you have an ls6 setup as far as heads and cam go you should be shifting around 65-6600 make sure the tuner knows that. anything under that is vastly limiting performance

besides the gears & tune for proper lockup speed would a mild shift kit be a good idea along with a boost valve & vette cervo? thx again for all your responses. 98 cayene can i go for a ride?

Our cars already come with the Corvette servo and you want a Transgo shift kit, not B&M. Find a knowledgeable installer if you're not tranny savvy. My shifts are crisp and firm with a 3600, Transgo, and tuning. My lock-up is set for 4th gear only at 45mph.
I agree on 3.42s. Some people don't mind them with a stall, but I hated the 2.73's even with the stock converter.
