If you are serious about buying a converter soon, why not give us details about your car, engine, preferences and intentions. For example, track-only car or mostly street car.
While the converter companies will probably claim they make a full variety of converters, reading all threads here I get the impression that the mostly-track members like PTC and FTI while the street/strip member like Circle D and Yank.
Personally I've had a Yank SS3600 and just bought a CircleD 3600 triple-disk.

I didn't have a chance to install the CircleD and test it before winter hit (early) in Michigan.
Next year I plan to make back-to-back track runs with and without lockup in 2nd and 3rd gears to access how much advantage, if any, a triple disk gives you at the track. Obviously I will document everything here.

I would stick to a major brand, either Yank or Vigilante.

Impossible to say which one is "best" im sure any of those companies will build you a great converter, that being said for the price Ptc all the way, got my 10" lock up converter for like $425 and it rocks, had a yank which was great to but spent $700 on it, you have to decide if the billet cover and more clutch material is worth the extra money.

My suggestion would be to fill out the converter build sheets and see what the builders recommend. Very pleased with the quality and performance of my Circle D converter plus very good customer service.

I have run a Ultimate Converter Concepts 8" 5000 converter, a Yank SS4000, both which I was happy with. I think I'm going to try a Circle D or FTI converter with this next combo however.

This.

Had a Yank, after talking to Chris I decided to make the switch. He really took the time to go over everything and even checked up on me for a while.

There are a lot of good converter builders out there but unfortunately you will mostly only see or hear of ones that sponsor the particular site you're on. Please notice I said builders, you don't want an off the shelve one if you are serious about maximizing your combination. If your builder does not ask you questions about your combo or make suggestions then shy away. With all that being said, I have had great success with Edge Racing but they are not a sponsor on here.
